NOTES FOR NET CONTROL
- Have a pen and paper handy
- Speak slowly and clearly
- Leave enough pause time when calling for check-ins
- Acknowledge all communications from check-ins and directed calls to net control
- Pick a topic that you think might be interesting to the group. Avoid contentious topics and keep it professional and family friendly.
- This is just a guide, feel free to change it up and put your own personal flavor on it. YOU ARE NET CONTROL!
“Good evening and welcome to the AC4XQ Florida DMR network weekly net! I’m [NAME, CALLSIGN],
your net control.
This is a directed net, intended to get in touch with the user base and check the health of the system.
Please direct all calls to net control and please be patient.
Before we get started, is there any emergency or priority traffic? Please call now…”
PAUSE FOR 10 SECONDS. IF THERE ARE ANY, ASK AGAIN & PAUSE UNTIL NO ANSWER
NOTE: if there are any announcements that you are aware of, make them here. If none, you can wait for AC4XQ or KB2VUQ if they’re available
and pause after initial check-ins are complete to see if they have any announcements or pressing matters
“Alright, let’s start taking check-ins! Please give your callsign slowly and phonetically, along with your first name. Anyone mobile or short of time, please call now...”
PAUSE FOR 10 SECONDS. IF THERE ARE ANY, ASK AGAIN & PAUSE UNTIL NO ANSWER.
MOBILE / SHORT OF TIME CHECK-INS ARE LOGGED BUT NOT CALLED ON FOR THE TOPIC
Call each repeater, acknowledging each check-in and calling for any additional check-ins from that repeater until there are no more. Be sure to leave enough pause as there may be some delay
“Anyone checking in on [REPEATER], please call now...”

PAUSE FOR 10 SECONDS. IF THERE ARE ANY, ASK AGAIN & PAUSE UNTIL NO ANSWER
IF APPLICABLE, CALL AC4XQ or KB2VUQ for announcements or pressing matters
“Alright, thank you to everyone who checked in! Tonight’s topic is [TOPIC], what are your thoughts?”
Call each check-in sequentially and get their input for the chosen topic. Pause after 3 people to ask if there are any late check-ins, and add them to the list.
Once everyone on the check-in list has been called, announce that it is complete, then proceed with the following...
“Are there any further comments, questions or concerns? Please call net control.”
PAUSE FOR 10 SECONDS. IF THERE ARE ANY, ASK AGAIN & PAUSE UNTIL NO ANSWER
“Anyone with equipment they’d like to buy sell or trade, please call now…”
PAUSE FOR 10 SECONDS. IF THERE ARE ANY, ASK AGAIN & PAUSE UNTIL NO ANSWER
“Thank you to everyone who checked in! As a reminder, please join our Facebook Group, Florida DMR Net (no dot) to keep up to date on events and discussion.
